You charge your REEV, start the car and notice something different: yesterday the dashboard showed one driving range, but today the number is lower. Does that mean something is wrong with the battery?

Usually, no.

The range shown on your dashboard is an estimate, not a fixed number. It can change depending on how and where you drive, how much air conditioning you use, the outside temperature, vehicle load and other conditions.

So if your estimated battery-only range decreases during a demanding journey, it does not mean the vehicle suddenly loses its overall long-distance capability in the same way a battery-only EV might approach the end of its available charge.

You do not need to completely change the way you drive. A few basic habits can make energy consumption more predictable:

  • Avoid carrying unnecessary heavy items.

Should You Worry If Your REEV Range Drops?

A small change from one day to another is usually normal.

Your displayed range can respond to driving speed, air-conditioning use, traffic, temperature, vehicle load and recent driving conditions.
